You can't stop progress,
but you can shape it.

You can't stop "progress." Especially in a town like Saugerties where the population has grown immensely and whose population growth is currently challenging interpretation of Saugerties' Comprehensive Plan.

There are many, many good and valid points in the Comprehensive Plan. But some very important ones are out of date and / or the current zoning does not accurately reflect the goals. Which creates problems.

 

 There are 3 major concerns that are currently facing the Saugerties that are being addressed in this forum.
The Casino
Bigger than anything else that has come down the pike. Enough money to tempt the devil himself but in the guts of most residents a nightmare. The challenge is to keep it away.
Development
As our town grows, so does the challenges the planning board faces. It is up to the planning board to make considerations for our future. Saugerties Concerns is closely monitoring the Planning Board actions to give feedback and assistance to aid the planners in making the right decision for our Town.

Citizen Input
Of all the concerns, this is the most crucial to the future of Saugerties. Without public input even well-meaning leaders cannot make community minded decisions. It is not only our right but our responsibility to let officials know what our positions on issues are. It is also very important to applaud responsible decisions they make.
